All the powers of North America and Europe have entered into an unholy alliance: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. President Joe Biden, eco-socialists and industrial heavyweights. They have conspired to enact a “fundamental paradigm shift,” or a Great Transformation, “to a new energy economy that will halt fossil fuel use and development,” all with the secret goal of establishing “a new global low-carbon, net-zero civilization.”

I’ve never heard of this lady but she asked this intriguing question and Twitter’s almighty algorithm decided it should grace my timeline and so I couldn’t help but read some of the replies.

The Sovietization of the American Press
I collect Soviet newspapers. Years ago, I used to travel to Moscow’s Izmailovsky flea market every few weeks, hooking up with a dealer who crisscrossed the country digging up front pages from the Cold War era. I have Izvestia’s celebration of Gagarin’s flight, a Pravda account of a 1938 show trial, even an ancient copy of Ogonyek with Trotsky on the cover that someone must have taken a risk to keep.
These relics, with dramatic block fonts and red highlights, are cool pieces of history. Not so cool: the writing! Soviet newspapers were wrought with such anvil shamelessness that it’s difficult to imagine anyone ever read them without laughing. A good Soviet could write almost any Pravda headline in advance. What else but “A Mighty Demonstration of the Union of the Party and the People” fit the day after Supreme Soviet elections? What news could come from the Spanish civil war but “Success of the Republican Fleet?” Who could earn an obit headline but a “Faithful Son of the Party”?
Reality in Soviet news was 100% binary, with all people either heroes or villains, and the villains all in league with one another (an SR was no better than a fascist or a “Right-Trotskyite Bandit,” a kind of proto-horseshoe theory). Other ideas were not represented, except to be attacked and deconstructed. Also, since anything good was all good, politicians were not described as people at all but paragons of limitless virtue — 95% of most issues of Pravda or Izvestia were just names of party leaders surrounded by lists of applause-words, like “glittering,” “full-hearted,” “wise,” “mighty,” “courageous,” “in complete moral-political union with the people,” etc.

Most American Schools Are Damaging Your Child
I have been telling parents for decades that sending a child to almost any college is playing Russian roulette with his or her values.
But it is a different version of Russian roulette. In the traditional version, only one of the gun’s six chambers contains a bullet. In the college version of Russian roulette, 5 of the 6 chambers contain a bullet. If your child attends almost any university in America (or Canada or anywhere else in the English-speaking world), the odds are that your child’s decency, intellectual acuity, faculty of reason, character and moral compass will be damaged, perhaps permanently.
The worse news is that sending your child to almost any elementary school or high school — public or private — is fast becoming equally toxic. More and more schools are being taken over by left-wing ideologues and by nonideologues who lack the courage to confront the ideologues.

My awakening to the new orthodoxy began during this past summer of discontent. In mid-June, a few weeks after the George Floyd protests began, the head of Riverdale Country School, the New York City private school my wife and I entrusted with the education of our two young children, sent a memo apologizing for unspecified past wrongs. “We have the responsibility to use our privilege to fight for change,” he explained. “We are also free to shift some aspects of our culture more quickly than other institutions and organizations.”

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a new rules package on Jan. 4 that explicitly strikes “gendered language” from the official House Rules. The rules prohibit the use of terms that designate the gender of familial relationships— father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, and so on—and replace them with gender neutral terms.
Tammy Bruce, host of Fox Nation, says this move is “obscenely Marxist” because it “deconstructs what it means to be female.” She went on to say, “It reduces all of us, it eliminates the value of the individual and our uniqueness as individuals.”
The goal of social policing of our language is thought control, which epitomizes the Marxist agenda.
