Rantz: Union head says opening schools is ‘white supremacy,’ suicide concern ‘white privilege’

The president of the Pasco Association of Educators (PAE) claims reopening schools for in-person learning is an example of “white supremacy,” and compares listening to concerned parents to following rioters breaking into the U.S. Capitol. He even says concern over student suicide is an example of  “white privilege.”

Danuta is a new Canadian, and she thought this was a free country. That is, until she got a $1,200 ticket for having an authorized gathering in her house, at a time when nearly all private gatherings have been outlawed by the government in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Parler CEO says social media platform may never return

EO John Matze told Reuters on Wednesday that much about the app and website is still up in the air after businesses cut ties to the company. Amazon said it removed Parler from its cloud-hosting service because the social media platform was not effectively moderating and removing violent content. Now Matze says the company’s fate is uncertain.

Ontario is reporting more than 3,300 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday as a stay-at-home order came into effect across the province to reduce transmission of the virus.

Public health officials reported 3,326 new infections and 62 additional deaths today.


Canada lags in vaccines because of Trudeau’s inaction

There are more than 400,000 Canadians vaccinated and that’s a good thing. The downside, though, is that we are only at about 1% of the population vaccinated.

According to the COVID-19 database, Our World in Data compiled by Oxford University, just over one in 100 Canadians is vaccinated against COVID-19.

Huawei CFO Meng’s family granted federal travel exemption to visit Canada

OTTAWA — Immigration Canada has granted the husband and two children of detained Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou COVID-19 travel exemptions to visit her in Vancouver.

Meng’s lawyers stated in court Tuesday that her husband Liu Xiaozong and two children applied for the exemption to travel from China at the end of 2020. Liu arrived in October and was followed by the children in December. They remain in Canada.
